The 2024 revision of ASTM D2683—approved by ASTM International’s F17 Committee—now requires certified carbon-black dispersion homogeneity and minimum 2.5% (w/w) loading for black HDPE fittings in municipal water applications.
PolyPipe Solutions’ QC lab co-authored the technical annex supporting the update and has accelerated validation of its entire black fitting portfolio against the revised test protocol (ASTM D1603 + image analysis).
The change accelerates specification adoption across U.S. state DOTs and reinforces material integrity as a non-negotiable in aging infrastructure renewal.
